I was born in the Midwest as William Woods, I am the hip-hop artist E-1. I have lived a varied and interesting life. Always having a penchant to perform, I starred in several plays through grade school and high school. My life took a drastic change when my parents split up. I found out the man who raised me was not my biological father and the loss of my grandmother, all in a year span. That led me into a life of crime and drug addiction. As time went on the LOVE from a fourth dimension proved to me that drugs weren’t who I was and crime wasn’t my existence.

I discovered the lessons learned while on the road to recovery were simply life lessons and if applied by anyone needing spiritual help their lives would change. The knowledge I’ve gathered through the years, working to become spiritually fit, has become the basis for this CD project entitled The Beginning. A spiritually conscious collection, of hip-hop music, to celebrate and challenge your Spirit centricity. From songs like "Self love" which chronicles the issues of the break down of the black family unit from slavery to today to the finger snapping head bobbing instant classic "One love" which covers the need for unity and love in the world community.

Growing up during the beginning of the hip-hop era songs like the Message from Grandmaster flash sparked a curiosity in me that continuously burned and ignited a passion that grew deeper. When socially conscious artists such as KRS-ONE and Public Enemy hit the scene opening my eyes to what it meant to be a black man through a survivalist philosophy. As a new artist I have a vision of exploring hip-hop at its roots, telling a story of a positive nature, and to bring about change through my art. My creation is a genre of hip hop music that would be considered New Thought Funk laced with Conscious Crunk.

Hip-Hop is a part of all life. An expression of life real and imagined, which crosses all boundaries and aspects of this world we live in. I choose to explore Hip-Hop on a conscious level and focus on not only the visible but the invisible. It does not matter whether you are atheist, agnostic, or a fanatic. Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, Baptist protestant, minister, rabbi or getting high, Hustler, pimp, ho or think you in the know. We all live by one POWER, one LAW. We all manifest and return to the same Source. The only difference is what, when, and how you choose to experience this journey.

Listen to the message; it is clear-- love is how I choose to spend my time here. This first project is truly a gift from the Divine having survived and seen so much in this life. I have come to see the fun has just begun. My shared vision is to help as many young artists out there who just need someone to believe in them so as you support me you support them.
